Labour and debt

The Labour Party has just ended its annual conference in Manchester.  In relation to the national debt, I heard no policy announcement reported.

Instead, the Party leader spoke in a revealingly religious way about “my faith” and pointed to the Party’s current slogan “One Nation Labour”.

This approach mirrors the local politicians who ‘cold call’ at my front door.  They ask what my concerns are, rather than talk about the policies they stand for.

In my view, this approach invites support for a personality rather than a list of policies.  It is no surprise that the electorate see all the main political parties standing (roughly speaking) in the centre ground, and find it difficult to distinguish between them.

Next week, the Conservative Party meet in Birmingham.
